Cutting Table 

The standard cutting table will have a 5′ X 20′ effective cutting area.  A steel one-piece frame requires no assembly in your shop.  The aluminum gantry designed to be sturdy and rigid, yet it is lightweight for accurate cornering and positioning.  It is driven with a double rack and pinion drive, which consist of high-speed digital motors with a traversing speed capable of 2000 ipm.  The torch carriage is also a rack and pinion drive.  This rack and pinion drive system ensures excellent positioning accuracy which is enhanced by the built-in home position.  The cutting table is a downdraft design and requires an exhaust system.  Machine color is Forest Green with Tan trim. 

Vicon Microprocessor PC Controller 

Vicon machines use a computer as the machine controller, for speed and versatility.  It is multi-tasking, meaning the programming, loading of new programs, and editing can be done at the machine while it is operating. Prior computer knowledge is not needed since the machine is operated through the eight function buttons on the computer, which again are easier to operate than other types of machine controls.  The sheet being worked on is displayed on the monitor at the machine, as is the cutting table.  The operator sees on the screen the sheet size and exactly what is going to be cut.  The advantage is that machine controllers become obsolete, while computers are always available.

2.3   Vicon ViSoft Cutting Software 

Plasma Automation Inc. builds both the Vicon Plasma Cutting Systems and develops its own copyrighted Vicon Cutting Software.  This ensures excellent customer support since all the service is handled by one source.  The system accepts a DXF file import from most other programming or CAD systems.  The Vicon program is compatible with Windows®7 Operating System. 

Super Nest, in the Vicon Cutting Program for Windows is extremely cost efficient in that it utilizes material to the fullest.  Individual parts are rotated and fitted together according to actual shape resulting in more parts per sheet, in the quickest possible time. 

Standard Software Features 

  • Unique customizable user interface for quick navigation. True Windows® menu-driven program for ease of use including letter codes for speed.  “Quick key” commands help both the novice and expert achieve efficiency.  
  • Full user-defined HVAC software libraries including rectangular, round, double wall, and oval fitting types. Also includes standard and advanced geometric parts. 
  • Most commonly used fitting codes can be saved with pre-defined variations of fittings including dimensions, seam and connector types, gauges, and pressure class information. 
  • True CAD “Sketch” program for programming of any special parts. 
  • CAD “2D Downloading”.  Accepts 2D DXF files produced by any CAD system and then converts the file into Vicon machine language. 
  • Super Nest feature, Auto Segmenting of oversize fittings, Common Line Cutting and Nest-in-Holes capabilities. 
  • Completely flexible reporting capabilities and custom design label editing. 
  • Software is set to SMACNA standards. 
  • Options available for interface with Estimating and HVAC CAD Drafting Software.  Programs include but are not limited to: Drawtech, Eastcoast CAD, InteliCAD, TSI, CAD Pipe, etc. 

Plasma Power Supply 

Hypertherm Powermax 65  Air Plasma Cutting System.  The output current is adjustable between 20 and 65 amps.  Maximum recommended production cutting capacity is gauge to 3/8”. Please refer to the Powermax 65 brochure for detailed specifications.
